What is human resource?
People are the vital for the effective operation of a company and the most important resource of an organization is its human resource. People are more important for the effective operation of a company. To over come the challengers of the today’s business environment managers must recognized the potential of human resources and then recruit the right people, train them, develop them and also retain them for betterment of the organization. 

What is human resource management?
There are various definitions about human resource management. Human resource management can be simply defined as the philosophy, practice, procedures, programmes and processes related to the management of people in an organization. This can be defined as employment in order to achieve competitive advantages through the strategic development of a highly committed and capable workforce using an integrated array of cultural structural and personnel techniques.
Personal management & Human resource management
Human resource management was first known as a personnel management. Personnel management mainly focuses on administrative tasks such as record keeping, arranging the wagers or salaries for the employees. Human resource management is the modem version of personal management. Following are the main differences of personal management.

Modern approach of managing and motivating the employees.
Manage people
Consider people as a resource and develop them.
More force on personal administration, welfare and employee salary management.

Human resource management is a strategic function.
Personal management focuses on increased output and satisfaction of employees
Focuses on effectiveness, culture, procedures and employee participation.
Cost benefit on short term
Cost effective on the long term and can consider as an investment for organization
Any manager can do the personal management who is having basic managerial skills
HRM need to handle by a specialized or professionally qualified persons.

With this comparison between the personal management and the human resource management we can come to the conclusion of human resourced management is vaster and broader than the personal management.
